| (An initiative to recognize engineering talents of India) |
“Industrialize or perish.” These were the famous words of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya who through his innumerable
works showed the world that an Engineer can be a nation builder too.
Dreams of Visvesvaraya can never be realized unless the engineering profession is
given the due recognition for its achievements and capabilities. We at Economic
Research India Private Ltd (ERIL) are taking a small step forward in
achieving this objective by initiating an exercise, Engineers Awards – 2012.
Engineers Award - 2012 is an initiative to recognize achievements
in the engineering field and also to identify budding talents in the country. Also
engineering faculty plays an important role in moulding the budding talent whose
efforts are rarely recognized nor are spoken about. Engineers Award – 2012
has decided to recognize this section of the profession too by including a special
category for the teaching faculty.
The award function will be held at Delhi in October 2012. Award will be distributed
by a prominent personality in the presence of eminent people drawn from engineering,
construction, infrastructure and finance profession.
We are planning to honour the engineers in civil, mechanical, design, electrical,
electronic, quality control and safety segments. Selection will be based on how
the project executed by the nominated engineer helps the society in improving the
quality of life. Awardee will be selected by a panel of juries comprising experts
in the field of engineering. The selection will mainly be based on the following
criteria:
- Adherence to schedule (both cost and time)
- Application of innovative methods and materials
- Adoption and promotion of green technology
- Contribution to the society
- Other factors to be decided by the jury members
Only completed projects will be considered for the purpose. Nominations will be
accepted only through the institutions which the engineers are representing.
Self nominations will not be entertained. [No individual nominations
will be accepted.] Also, only two nominations per institution will be accepted.
